Assessment of Pollution of Heavy Metals on Vegetables from Outskirts of Xian

A survey was conducted to have detected heavy metals in 50 samples representing edible parts of 9 vegetables taken from outskirts of Xian City, revealing contents and distribution of Hg, As, Pb, Cr and Cd in the plant tissue. It has been indicated that lead is the main pollutant in vegetables collected from the tested region. Of 50 samples of 9 vegetables, 48% of the tested samples contained the pollutant exceeding the concentration of official tolerance.
