Effects of Simulated Acid Rain and Soil Cd on Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Brassica chinensis and Phaseolus vulgaris L

Effects of simulated acid rain and s oil Cd on physiological and biochemi cal characteristics of Brassica chi nensis and Phaseolus vulgaris L were studied.T he experimental results showed that growth of Brassica chinensis and Phaseolus vulgaris L was inhibited,and total contents of chl orophyll and ratios of chlorophyll a/b decreased obviously as increasin g acidity of simulated acid rain and Cd concentrations.Under th e complex pollution of simulated acid rain and Cd,content of MDAand activ ity of PODin the two plants increased,and activities of CAT and SOD increased first and then d ecreased afterwards.Meanwhile,a s ynergism of the toxic effects of simulated acid rain and Cd to Phaseolus vulgaris L was found to b e stronger than those to Brassica chi nensis.
