Effects of Acid Rain on Leaf Injury and Physiological Characteristics of Crops

The field acid rain spray system was adopted to study the effects of simulant acid rain on leaf injury and chlorophyll content, photosynthesis, permeability of cell membrane, stomatic impedance, and transpiration intensity of 11 crops. The result should that the leaf injury of crops mainly depended on pH value of acid rain besides the effects of genetic characteristic, growing period, and environmental conditions. The threshold of leaf injury of experimental crops was pH3.5. pH4.2 acid rain caused significant adverse effects on the physiological characteristics of sensitive crops. Therefore, the physiological characteristics were more sensitive than the leaf injury. It is feasible for assess the effects of acid rain on physiological characteristics by adopting relative index value" .
