Application of SiC Ceramics to Manufacture of Spacecraft Combustion Chamber

SiC ceramics is a new type structural material which has excellent mechanical properties in high temperature. Besides, it has also small heat expansion coefficient, good thermal conductivity and light density (only metal′s 1/3). Therefore, the application of SiC ceramics to the manufacture of spacecraft and aircraft is applicable. This paper presents the process of the application of SiC ceramics to the manufacture of spacecraft combustion chamber. The research shows that spacecraft combustion chamber is made from SiC ceramics. It has many especial advantages and the experimental result is satisfactory. At the same time, the paper also describes the prospect of the application of SiC ceramics in other high temperature structural parts.
