A New Technology for Rapid Prototyping Manufacturing of Metal Parts

As a key technology for rapid prototyping manufacturing (RPM), rapid manufacturing of metal parts is a target of RPM. Introducing selective laser sintering (SLS), an important branch of RPM, this paper gives a new method oriented on low power SLS system to fabricate metal parts. By using this kind of technology, the mixture of metal and polymer powder is sintered to get "Green Part", then, after debinding and infiltrating metal, dense parts are obtained. Finally influencing factors of the technology are analyzed and an application example is given.
