Soil carbon as dynamic mechanism for epikarstification in humid subtropical region: Evidence of carbonreservoirs and transfer in the system

Taking an example of Guilin Yaji Karst Experiment Site,carbon reservoirs and their stable isotope abundance were analysed of the epikarst system,and CO 2 concentration in air of plant system and its relation to soil respiration CO 2 emmission were monitored.The results showed that soil carbon was the biggest carbon reservoir in the system,plant CO 2 absorption from air and soil CO 2 respiration emmission were the predominant process of carbon fluxes in the system.The labile carbon forms mainly expressed as CO 2 in the system was dominantly derived from soil carbon.Consequently,the dynamic mechanism of soil carbon for epikarst system in humid subtropical karst region was revealled.
