Comparative study of some colostric components between crossbred and Erhualian breeds

The components and pH of colostrum in 12 crossbred(♀Erhualian×Yorkshire)and 30 Erhualian sows were investigated during 2 h after farrowing.Lactose and IGF I concentrations in crossbred sows were significantly higher than in Erhualian sows(P0 05),but fat concentration was remarkably lower than in Erhualian sows(P0 05).No significant differences in total protein concentration and pH were observed.Colostric proteins of crossbred and Erhualian sows were compared by SDS PAGE.Relative proportions of main proteins were analyzed.IgH proportion in crossbred sows was much higher than in Erhualian sows(P0 05).Compared with Erhualian sows,Lf proportion in crossbred sows was markedly lower(P0 01).Litter weight was much higher for crossbred vs.Erhualian sows(P0 05),but litter sizes were similar.
