The experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of different seedling raising methods, including paddy raised, dryland raised and silt raised seedling,on seedling quality under mechanized transplanting. The results showed that dryland raised seedling was more favorable for growing vigorous seedlings, and had marked advantage to prolong the seedling age.Silt raised seedling method had lower seedling rate compared with dryland raised seedling, although it was feasible to some extent in the practice. Fertilizer should be cut down or removed during long age seedling raising for mechanical transplanting rice.
