Stratospheric Ozone in Response to Increased Surface CFCs Emissions

To evaluate the stratospheric process in the response to the increased surface CFCs emissions,some simulations were carried out by the NCAR interactive chemical,dynamical and radioactive two-dimensional(SOCRATES)model.The investigation shows that when the surface CFCs emissions is reduced by 30%,which leads to changes of concentrations of various active chemical components in the mid-upper stratosphere,through transportation,diffusion and a series of chemical reactions;after the equilibrium of the various components,the relative change rate of active components In the layer from 40 km to 48 km is-20% for ClOx,2% for HOx,2% for NOx and 5% for O3,respectively.Those changes result in the increase in radiation heating rate in the mid-upper stratosphere,thus the cooling trend of the stratosphere is reduced by 0.6 K.
