On Transformation of Chinese Higher Education in Recent Years

Transformation is an important characteristic of the development of Chinese higher education in recent years.The main features of transformation can be summarized as follows: it is widespread in terms of space,accelerative in terms of time,and profound in terms of degree.Among the various factors influencing the transformation of Chinese higher education,the shift from a planned economy to a market economy and the development of the economic system of the socialist market economy are of essential importance;the government has also played an significant role in this transformation;learning from the advanced experience of foreign higher education and its subsequent change of ideals about higher education constitute a cultural and ideological background for this great transformation.
