THE INWARD EXPLOSION WELDING OF CIRCULAR COPPER TUBES

This paper presents an experimental study on the inward explosion welding of the clad tube onto the base tube.The structure and the waveform of the interface are examined.Water is used as the flexible inner mold and its effect on the reduction of explosive radial contraction is analyzed.Experimental results show that the technology of inward explosion welding of circular tubes with water used as the inner mold is feasible,and the parameters and determination of detonator amount are correct.The clad tube whose wall is 2.00 mm thick can be welded reliably with the base tube on condition that the explosive charge mass ratio is 0.8.The interface appears to be wavelike,and the radial contraction of the composite tube can be controlled around 5%.
