DISCUSSION OF PLANTATION AREA IN CHINA AND VERACITY OF RS DATA

GUO Guang-meng(Institute of Geography Science and Natural Resource,Chinese Academy of Science,Beijing 100101,China)
One to ten million ratio scale database of our country was set up in twenty first century, and it was interpreted by TM or ETM images in 1990,1995 and 2000.Its fixed quality interpreting precision was over ninety percent, but it did not show how many was fixed quantity precision.Through it many studies indicated change of plantation in China. They considered that area of plantation increased by about 2,585,500 to 2,960,000 hm~2 from eighth decade to ninth decade this century. Its result was greatly different from Statistical data announced by Nationality Soil Resource Department which said that it decreased by 3,000,000 hm~2.Comparing data announced by National Soil Resource Department with data monitored by RS showed that precision of plantation area was about 92.4 percent and it cased great differences between them.
