Analysis on the Temporal and Spatial Change Characteristics of Wind Speed in Inner Mongolia from 1963 to 2012

The temporal-spatial variations characteristics of wind speed, including the annual average wind speed variation, the seasonal variation of wind speed and wind speed variations in different regions in Inner Mongolia, were analyzed based on the observed mean wind speed data in 95 ground meteorological stations from 1963 to 2012. The results showed that the annual average wind speed had reduced significantly at the speed of-0.24m·s-1/10 a in Inner Mongolia. The seasonal average wind speed ranked as spring autumn winter summer and the speed was 3.81, 2.93, 2.90 and 2.84 m·s-1respectively. The variation had presented a reducing trend for the seasonal mean wind and the rate was between-0.19 and-0.24 m·s-1/10 a in the past 50 years, the wind speed in spring decreased sharply, followed by autumn and winter and gently decreased in summer. The mean wind speed was higher in several parts such as Xing'an league, Tongliao city, Chifeng city, Xilinguole league, Wulanchabu, Baotou city and Alashan league in Inner Mongolia, which all were higher than 3.0m/s, especially in the middle part of Inner Mongolia such as Xilinguole league and Baotou city, where the annual average wind speed was higher than 5.0 m·s-1and wind energy resources were rich in these areas. The wind speed reduced obviously in Baoutou city and Wulanchabu city and the rate was 0.36 m·s-1/10 a and 0.38 m ·s-1/10 a respectively.
