The Changes of the Contents of Organic Matter in Tobacco Leaves under Dinerent Curing Conditions

The changes of the contents of organic matter in flue-cured tobacco leaves underdifferent curing conditions were studied by electric heated curing apparantus with automat-iccontroI of temperature and humidity.The results showed that the loss of dry matter wasthe quickest in yellowing stage,quicker in leaf drying stage and the slowest in stem dryingstage.At the same time,with the lengthening of time during curing,the amount of starch,protein,insoluble nitrogen,nicotine in tobacco leaves dereased,while that of rpducing sug-artotal amount of amino-acid,soluhle nitrogen increased.In different curing treatrnents,all the physiological and biochemical changes in the leaves were more approprlate when theyellowing temperature was low and the rate of raising ternperature for leaf drying wasshow.Furthermore,the effect of yellowing temperature on the changes of orgdnic mattterwas more significant than that of raising temperature for leaf drying.
