Application of Computational Fluid Dynamics in Outline Size Design of Water Radiator Core

In order to apply computational fluid dynamics(CFD) easily to outline size for radiator core,a combined optimization design method consisting of experiment design,CFD,approximate formula and sequential quadratic programming was put forward to avoid the CFD time-consuming problem in design process.The air flow field of a tube-fin radiator was computed with CFD,and the obtained air flow resistances were verified by the test,on this basis optimization design was implemented for a tube-corrugated fin water radiator.The result shows that for the optimized design layout,the flow resistance of air side is reduced by 23% while the radiator heat transfer and the flow resistance of water side are kept about the same.
