Numerical Simulation of Fuel Supply Character for Main and Idle Systems of Carburetor under SteadyWorking Conditions

This paper establishes a mathematical model for the main and idlesystems of a carburetor under steady working conditions.In this model,the two phase flow of fuel and air in the thin pipes of a carburetor is computed according to branch points,the interaction of the main system and idlesystems is considered;the effect of a triplethroat is calculated for air flow.A home-made EQH102 single chamber-triplethroat carburetor is computed asan example.The comparision of the computed values and the experimentalvalues shows little error between them.The effects of the variations ofseveral parameters on fuel supply characters are studied.It is practicable toapply this simulation program to more detailed analytical studies of car-buretor metering.
