Experimental research and theoretical analysis were made on a gasoline-hydrogen fueled engine reformed by the authors. The results of the comparative tests with the original gasoline engine , both on the bench test and on the bus running test, show that a small amount of hydrogen added into gasoline engine, which acts as a burning promoter, can shorten the ignition delay greatly, speed up the flame propagation, improve the combustion obviously and lean burning is realized. When running at part load, the rate of thermal efficiency increase is 7% -15%, and even higher at light loads; the rate of specific gasoline consumption decrease is 20%-25%, and even lower at light loads. Running at middle range of loads, 5% of added hydrogen mass fraction is suitable, when running at light loads, the hydrogen added should be more, and less at high loads. With the addition of hydrogen, the thermal efficiency can increase obviously and the gasoline can save remarkably, which is of significance in saving energy and gasoline.
