Influence of Injection Strategies on Deposit Regeneration in Diesel EGR Cooler by Non-Thermal Plasma Technology

For different injection strategies,an experimental study on the regeneration of self-designed exhaust gas recirculation(EGR)coolers was conducted using non-thermal plasma(NTP)injection system.Four strategies were employed to control the total flow constant at 10,L/min and change the branch flows.By measuring the axial temperature distribution and volume fractions of CO and CO_2 of products,the effects of injection strategies on regeneration were analyzed.Results show that segmented injection strategies change the axial temperature distribution,leading to a temperature rise in front part of the EGR cooler and a drop in back part.Volume fractions of CO under different strategies are lower than those of CO_2,and show a similar trend.In general,the regeneration effects with segmented injection strategies are more remarkable than that with non-segmented injection strategy because of a higher utilization of NTP,among which strategy 4 whose branch flows gradually decline is the most effective and its deposit removal weight is 2.42,g,twice as much as that with non-segmented injection strategy.
