Combined application of mechanical ventilation and smoke extraction for underground carparks in highrise buildings

Provides formulas for determining the air volume to be exhausted from underground parking spaces in highrise buildings. Emphasises the concept of effective smoke preventing zoning. Explains several methods of combined application of mechanical ventilation and smoke extraction with an example of a 1 240 m 2 underground carpark. And concludes that zoning for smoke preventing of a maximum of 200 m 2 each is the most preferable and can minimises the total duty of the fans.
