Effects of Drip Irrigation under Plastic Mulch on Maize Growth and Yield

The effects of three kinds of planting methods on the growth and development, emergence rate, plant height, dry matter accumulation, yield and economic benefit of maize were studied by field experiment. Results showed that the emerging time of drip irrigation under plastic mulch was 3 days earlier than that of the drip irrigation and 5 days earlier than that of the conventional cultivation. Drip irrigation without mulch film was 2 days earlier than that of the conventional cultivation.The plant height of each treatment from high to low was drip irrigation under plastic mulch, drip irrigation without mulch film, and conventional cultivation. The plant height of the drip irrigation under plastic mulch and drip irrigation without mulch film were increased 19.9 cm and 19.1 cm than conventional cultivation. The maize dry matter accumulation of each treatment from high to low was drip irrigation under plastic mulch, drip irrigation without mulch film, and conventional cultivation. Water amount under drip irrigation in maize whole growing period was 5 062.5 m3/hm2 lower than that of comparison.Compared with the comparison, the output of drip irrigation under plastic mulch and drip irrigation without mulch film increased by 20.9% and 24.3%, and economic income increased by 6 075 yuan/hm2 and 7 965 yuan/hm2. Therefore, considering from the agricultural water and crop yield, drip irrigation and water fertilizer integration is the best technical measure to save water and increase production.
