Analysis on Artificializing Process and Its Driving Forces in Typical Natural Oasis

Hasan SAMAT1,Wahap HALIK1,2,Buzohra1,Aynur1,Hayrigul1(1.College of Resource and Environment Science,Xinjiang University,Urumqi 830046,China;2.Key Lab of Oasis Ecosystem of Xinjiang University,Urumqi 830046,China)
Oasis is the center of Mountain-Oasis-Desert system in arid areas where most of the human activity place. But,with the fast increase of population and rapid growth of social economy, the pressure on the oasis eco-system increased that it consequently lead to the problems of ecological crisis and sustainable development. In this paper,we studied the spatio-temporal changes, artificializing process and its driving forces of Qarqan natural oasis by applying both quantitative and qualitative analysis and field survey data, statistical data and the remote sensing images of Qarqan oasis in 1970,1990 and 2000 years. Results indicated that oasis existed here have been expanding throughout the years especially in the aspects of oasis and population range.Population growth is one of the main factors which contributes to the artificializing of natural oasis.
