Clinical study of primary gout with integrated traditional chinese and western medicine

Objectives To explore the clinical effectiveness of gout treated by integrated traditional chinese and western medicine (TCM-WM).Methods Tirty three patients of primary gout were allocated randomly into the TCM-WM group and control group.The therapeutic method for the control group including allopurinol and colchicine,intravenous of antibiotics or hydrocortisone.TCM-WM group by exception the aboved mentioned medication,chinese medicine treatment.Results The total effective rate of the TCM-WM group (90.5%) was higher than that of control group (58.3%),The significant between two groups in statistic ( P 0.05).Time for lessening the ache in the former (36.56h) was also shorter than that of the latter (42.52h),the obvious significant between two groups in statistic ( P 0.001).The recurrent rate of the former(33.3%) was lower than that of the latter (83.3%) the very obvious significant ( P 0.005).Conclusions The study provided both method and experience for the treatment of gout with TCM-WM.
