Wang Kunfan Zhou shantao (Beijing Agricultural unrsitg) Liu Yihe Liu Zenglin (Beijing Fruit CO.)
This study shows that the sererity of scald effected Starking apple is closely related to harvest time. The harvest date from full bloom last 117,127 and 138 days in 1980—1981 experiment and 130,140 and 150 days in 1981—1982 experiment. All of this shows that the eartier the harvest date, the more susceptible to scald the apple is. Fruits packed in polyethylene liner showed a tendency to develop more scald. It is believed that the number of days from full bloom to maturity for Starking apple grown in Beijing is about 140.
