Inhibitory effect of sulfur on the formation of dioxins during waste incineration process

Trace PCDD/Fs in environment were considered to be potential hazardous compounds to human health, which may have carcinogenic and mutagenic effect. Dioxins emitted from the incineration of waste are considered as the main source of dioxins in environment. It is meaningful to inhibit the formation of dioxin efficiently during waste incineration. At present, investigations have been studied by researchers on the formation, emission and control mechanism of dioxins. Inhibiting effect of sulfur on the formation of dioxins during waste incineration will be elaborated in this paper and the inhibiting mechanism of sulfur on the formation of dioxins during co-firing process of coal and waste will also be analyzed. According to the situation of our own country, co-firing techniques of coal and waste, which can inhibit dioxins emission efficiently from waste incineration have been suggested.
