Effect of Cover Crops on Soil Physical Properties and Rotary Tillage

Cover crops can improve the water holding ability of soil; however, its effect o n soil hardness depends on the moisture content of soil. The cover crops wrappin g around the shaft of rotary tiller during tilling can be obviously weakened by mowing the crops before tilling. Rotary tillage can not be used for grass cover crops for their biomass yields are high.
