Studies on the Relationship between Cultivated and Wild Rice Using ISSR Markers

The relationship of the cultivated and wild rice was studied using ISSR molecular markers. The results are as follows: About l33 polymorphism bands were obtained by l8 ISSR primers, the average amplified polymorphism band is 7.4 per primer and the amplified DNA fragments varied in size from approximately 0. l ~3.0 kb. The cluster analysis shows that the cultivated rices and the wild rices were divided in five groups, they are AA type cultivated rice and O. rutw, O. meyerana, CC, CCDD and O rhychoryza. The diversity for a rufipogon is from southern to northern in geography, and thejaponica rice might be derived from indica rice. This view suppofted Ding's hypothesis of cultivated rice pathway evolution, that is a rufipogon → O sativa subsp indica → a sativa subsp japonnica
