Primary Study of Transferring Wheat Powdery Mildew Resistance Gene by PollenTube Pathway

The study of pollen tube pathway has been conducting for transferring genes in China since the late 1970s.Many successes had been obtained in cotton, rice, wheat, soybean and other crops. To improve powdery mildew resistance of a high yield wheat variety-Bei Nong No.6,the genomic DNA of Fu Zhuang 30,which has a Pm gene and confers a broad spectrum resistance to powdery mildew in China,was transferred to Bei Nong No.6 by pollen tube pathway. As a primary success we got nine transgenic plants among 77 D1 progenies based on powdery mildew resistance test and molecular identification.Of 477 D2 progenies from 9 transgenic plants,8 individuals with Beinong #6 agronomic traits expressed high resistance or immunity to powdery mildew.
