Experimental investigations on the effects of discharge-electrode configurations on electrostatic-cyclone performance

With the rapid development of industrial production and improvement of living conditions,environmental pollution brought about by emissions of atmospheric pollutants has been an increasingly concerning problem across the world.To enhance the performance of cyclone dust collectors commonly used in medium-and small-scale industrial plants,a cyclone dust collector was retrofitted into an electrostatic cyclone(ESC) by adding a high-voltage electrostatic field in the cyclone body.In this presentation,experimental investigations were conducted using three different types of discharge electrodes in an ESC.The voltage-current characteristics and the effects of the discharge-electrode configurations on collection efficiency,fractional collection efficiency and pressure drop were investigated and compared,in order to find a better discharge electrode for ESCs.One of the discharge electrodes showed prominent excellence in the augmentation of collection efficiency while decreasing pressure loss,thus boasting a promising future and great application potential.
