Celastrus angulatus (Celastraceae) is an insecticidal plant distributed widely across China. Its insecticidalactive ingredients are sesquiterpenoid polyol esters with a dihydroagarofuran structure. These compounds are stableto light, heat, and pH, and exert a narcotic and toxic poisoning action. Celastrus angulatus contains a plant-origininsecticide with a unique mechanism of action. Celangulins, a 0.2% emulsifiable concentrate has already been devel-oped for insect control.
