Weed spectrum and control efficacy of fluthiacet against broadleaf weeds in soybeans

Greenhouse pot experiments were conducted to test the activity of fluthiacet in controlling 24 weed species,and field experiments were conducted to determine soybean injury and weed control with fluthiacet. Fluthiacet appliedpostemergence at 15-20 g a.i./ha in the greenhouse provided 90% control of broadleaf weeds such as Amaranthusretroflexus and Xanthium sibiricum, but 60% control of grass weeds and certain broadleaf species such as Bidensbipinnata. Fluthiacet postemergence at 12-15 g a.i./ha in the field controlled Chenopodium album and Abutilon theophrasti90% and inhibited Commelina communis. The contact injury caused by fluthiacet on soybeans did not influence cropgrowth.
