The loopworms are the insect pests that have made serious damage in Lichi chinensis recently,of which the species Pelagodes proquadrarius is the most serious one.At present,P.proquadrarius larva were found to be resistant to many pesticides, but still sensitive to abamectin whose LC 95 value was 9.68 mg a.i./L to the larva.Compared to betacypermethrin 4.5%EC,abamectin 1.8%EC was more effective to P.proquadrarius in field plot experiment conducted in year of 2006 and 2007 and showed significant control efficacy on the loopworm after 7 days of treatment, inducing the number of the larva by 97.45%,applied at 9 and 18 mg a.i./L concentrations as a foliar spray. In field trial, the results were the same as that got from field plot experiment, showing that abamectin 1.8%EC could effectively control P.proquadrarius.
