Kinetic Model of Adsorption of Chromium(Ⅵ) by Chitosan

The batch removal of chromium(Ⅵ) from aqueous solution by chitosan under different experimental conditions such as the pH values, initial chromium(Ⅵ) ion concentration was investigated. Adsorption of chromium (Ⅵ) is highly pH-dependent and the results indicated that the optimum pH for the removal was found to be 4.0. A comparison of the kinetic models applied to the adsorption of chromium(Ⅵ) by chitosan was evaluated for the Lagergren first-order, Ho Y S second-order, Elovich equation and intraparticle diffusion kinetic models, respectively. Results show that the Ho Y S second-order kinetic model was found to correlate the experimental data well (r2=0.9942).
