Effect of different salt and alkali stress on the growth and photosynthesis of Red Globe/Beta grafted seedlings

A sand culture irrigated with neutral salt and alkaline salt to determine the growth of shoot,photosynthesis and root activity of Red Globe/Beta grafted seedlings.The results indicated that the growth of shoot was significantly inhibited under alkaline stress,whose relative growth rate was only 46.0%,while it was little affected under neutral salt stress.The root activity of grape decreased under alkali stress and neutral salt stress,and there were significant differences between NaHCO3 treatment and the control.The content of chlorophyll first increased and then decreased under Na2SO4 and(NH4)2SO4 stress,but it decreased all the time in the control and other treatments,meanwhile,the descent range of chlorophyll in NaCl and NaHCO3 treatment was significantly higher than that of the control.The net photosynthetic rate and PIABS first increased and then decreased under neutral salt stress with the stress time elongation,and they were lower than the control all the time,while they all kept steady decline under NaHCO3 stress.Generally speaking,NaHCO3 stress caused serious damage to grape plants and Na2SO4 cause less damage to vine.Grapevine had stronger tolerance to NaCl than NaHCO3.
