A Research on the Effects of Windshield on the Structural Stiffness of Vehicle Body

The finite element modeling technique for body-in-white( BIW) and body-in-prime( BIP)structure with windshield is studied and the effects of windshield on the static bending and torsional stiffness of car body structure are analyzed first. Then through the analysis on the natural vibration characteristics of BIW and BIP structures,the effects of windshield on the dynamic stiffness of car body are revealed. Finally the stiffness performance of joint structures of car body is analyzed and evaluated with the law of the influence of windshield on the load bearing characteristics of joint structure summarized.
