Literature review and some issues on the relationship between environment protection and urban competitiveness

Environmental protection has been widely paid attention to as a tool to improve the urban environment and solve ecological problems.With in-depth study,many researchers put an unprecedented attention into the area of environmental protection for upgrading urban competitiveness.The existing domestic and foreign researches are the results of analyzing the relationship between environmental protection and urban competitiveness from perspective of methodology of the urban economy and urban environmental change mechanism.At present main theoretical points on the relationship between the two are: Porter as the representative supporting long-term effective environmental policies stimulates technological innovation and management innovation;"environment of competing theories"and"pollution haven hypothesis",which are logical inferences from the"Prisoner's Dilemma"of that different countries or regions competing to take sub-optimal environmental policy to exacerbate global environmental degradation.Analysis from the internal mechanism of the urban environment protection and the urban competitiveness of which is important to provide adequate theoretical supporting for emphasizing the environment and environmental protection in urban competitiveness upgradation,and this is the further problem in this field.
