The Decomposition and Analysis Method for Dissolved Total Phosphorus in Sea Water by Persulphate Oxidation

Experimental studies have been conducted on the decomposition efficiency of four different types of organic and inorganic phosphorus compounds in seawater under acid or basic condition by persulphate oxidation. The influence factors on decomposition efficiency, such as digestion time and pH were identified. It was shown that non-condensed phosphate could be decomposed completely by persulphate. But in alkali condition, condensed phosphate can only be decomposed partly. Almost 100% decomposition efficiency could be reached for all types of compounds containing phosphorus under acid condition. A persulphate oxidation method in acid medium for decomposition and analysis of dissolved total phosphorus in seawater was proposed.
