OXYGEN CONSUMPTION AND NITROGEN EXCRETION OF Paralichthys Olivaceus DIFFERENT BODY WEIGHTS AT DIFFERENT WATER TEMPERATURE

The oxygen consumption and nitrogen excretion of juvenile Paralichys olivaceus (2.5￣34.5g) were tested at different water temperatures (12℃,17℃,22℃ Cand 27℃). The results reveal that both the oxygen consumption rate and nitrogen excretion rate of juvenile P.olivaceus increase significantly (P0.01) as the body weight increases; though the oxygen consumption rate exhibits a tendency to increase with the increase of water temperature, significant difference is only found between the 27℃ group and the other three groups (P0.01); the nitrogen excretion rate increases significantly (P0.01) as the water temperature goes up. The authors consider that in the indoor culture of P. olivaceus the lower limit of DO is 3mg/L; and the upper limit of water temperature is 27℃.
