Effect of particle geometrical characteristic on mechanical behavior of SiC particle reinforced aluminum matrix composites

A two-dimension of finite element model(FEM) was used to analyze the effect of particle with different shape and different size under different load on mechanical behavior of SiC particle reinforced aluminum composites.The results showed that the particle shape has great effect on stress and strain of composites.There are serious stress concentration in the particle corner and strain concentration in the matrix along the load.The stress and strain increase quickly with decreasing particle corner degree and with increasing the load.The particle size has little effect on stress of particle.
