Effect of micro-additives Mn and Sr on microstructure of Al-Mg-Si alloy

The effect of micro-additives Mn and Sr on microstructure of Al-Mg-Si alloy has been investigated.The results show that the re-crystallization behavior has been inhibited partially during extrusion process while Mn and Sr elements being added in combination.The granular phases distribute in chain shape after homogenization treatment.The morphologies of AlFeSi phase are in round fine points with smooth boundary stretching to the matrix,which decreases the stress concentration inside of grains and increases alloy properties.
