Innovative form and static analysis of cable-girder anchorage in cable-stayed bridges

This paper presents an innovative form of cable-girder anchorage,with the feature of beam string structure,to improve the mechanical behavior of the main girder in traditional cable-stayed bridges.Mechanism of force transfer in this form was analyzed through theoretical derivation,with a series of single-cable models calculated using ANSYS.The longest web member close to the cable turn point and the larger string sag ratio were proposed since the effects of the longest web member location and the string sag ratio are considerable.As the cable angle increases,interaction force between the cable and girder at the cable turn point increases for forward anchorages but decreases for backward ones.This interaction force is always smaller in forward anchorages than in backward ones.Besides vertical support of the cable to the girder similar to traditional cable-stayed bridges,the innovative anchorage form is proved to efficiently reduce the cable anchorage force and ameliorate the loading state of the girder due to the notable support from web members.
