Inconsistency analysis of LiFePO_4 battery packing

The inconsistency in LiFePO4 battery packing was investigated experimentally and analytically to guide the choice of packing mode.Cells were connected in series,parallel and series-parallel modes to simulate practical battery inconsistencies experienced in different working conditions.Rint model was improved to simulate different packing modes.A thermal model used to verify the current distribution in the parallel model shows that the cell-to-cell resistance inconsistency differences cause a non-uniform current distribution in the parallel pack,which may cause safety problems.An inconsistency coefficient for evaluating the current inconsistency is used to calculate the best series-parallel connections for cells or packs,suggesting that parallel connections should use cells or packs with similar resistences.
