Architecture and cooperation of a distributed intelligent diagnostic system for large scale power plants

Application of distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) to fault diagnosis is a state of the art technology for increasing availiability of large scale power plants. A basic architecture of a distributed intelligent monitoring and diagnostic system for large scale power plants is proposed. It can integrate different diagnostic reasoning paradigm. The strategies and methods of cooperation and communication among distributed subsystem based on multiple level blackboard are discussed. Condition monitoring for thermal system and vibration diagnosis for steam turbine generator are illustrated as two examples.
