Objective To investigate the effect of 3% boric acid and dexamethasone wet dressing combined with Mupirocin ointment in the treatment of irritant drugs infusion extravasation injury. Methods 160 patients with irritant drugs infusion extravasation injuries hospitalized in our hospital from January 2007 to March 2012 were randomly divided into experiment group(80 cases) and control group(80 cases). The experiment group was treated by 3% boric acid and dexamethasone wet dressing combined with Mupirocin ointment, while the control group was treated by 50% magnesium sulfate wet dressing. The swelling and pain levels of extravasation tissues in the two groups were observed. After one week treatment, the treatment effect and necrosis rate was compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results The swelling and pain levels between the two groups before treatment showed no statistically significant differences(Z=0.079,0.158;P0.05),but showed statistically significant differences after treatment(Z=1.502,2.293;P0.05).After one week treatment,in the experiment group,72 cases were cured,8 cases were improved and no case was invalid;while in the control group,25 cases were improved and 12 cases were invalid. The treatment effect between the two groups showed statistically significant difference(Z=2.29,P0.01).No case in the experiment group and 12 cases(15%) in the control group had necrosis. Conclusion 3% boric acid and dexamethasone wet dressing combined with mupirocin ointment have good effect in the treatment of stimulant drugs infusion extravasation injury by alleviating swelling and pain, preventing infection and necrosis and promoting repairing.
