Effection of HIF-1α and VEGF in tumor angiogenesis of endometrial cancer

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in normal human endometrium,atypical hyperplasia of endometrium and endometrial cancer and their relationship with angiogenesis.METHODS:The expression of HIF-lα and VEGF were examined by immunohistochemical SP method and microvascular density(MVD)was counted in specimens.RESULTS:The expression of HIF-lα were 63.6%(28/44)and 21.4 %(3/14)in endometrial cancer and normal human endometrium respectively.There was significant difference between the two groups(P0.01).The expression of VEGF were 56.8%,25.0% and 14.3% in endometrial cancer,atypical hyperplasia of endometrium and nomal endomedium respectively.There was significant difference in the three groups(P0.01).The expression of HIF-1α and VEGF were positively correlated with expression of MVD respectively(rs=0.579,P0.01;rs=0.607,P0.01).CONCLUSION:HIF-1α and its target gene VEGF play an important role in the genesis and development of endometrial cancer.HIF-lα can be a therapic target against endometrial cancer.
