ON THE STRUCTURE OF THE SUMMER MONSOON REGIME OF EAST ASIA

Huang Shisong Tang Mingmin (Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Ninjing University)
In this paper the structure of the East Asian sunmar moasoon regime is unraveled throuhgh the iavestigatioa of the activity of the summer monsoon of China in connection with the circulation systems of low latitudes. It is shown that the components of the summer momsoon regime of East Asia are the Ti ,etan High, NW Pacific High, Miscarene High, Australian High, India-South China Saa -depress ion and the therefrom derived tropical convergence zone anl associated ascending clouls over South China Sea and Mei-Yu fronts and associated ascendiag clouds over China. It is much complicated than the structure of the Inlian sumner monsoon rsgime, The East Asian sunner moasoon mainly coaisists of the trade currents from the tropical ragion of North Pacific Ocean and the Som-alian cross-equatorial currents from Southern Indian Ocean. In the entire moasoon regime the key components should be the Narthweatern Pacific High and the Mascarene High. And they have a great influence oa the Mei-Yu period precipitation ia the middle-lower reaches of Yaagtae River.
