ANALYSIS BY DIAGNOSIS OF WET Q-VECTOR OF A RAINSTORM PROCESS

Based on the ageostrophic Q-vector, taking account of the main heating forcing factor-diabatic heating of the development of synoptic system, the concept of ageostrophic wet Q-vector(Q*) was proposed and applied to diagnose a rainstorm process from June 23 to 24,1999. The result suggested that rainstorm is most likely happen in a Q* convergent area and it locates near the ascending branch of a secondary circulation, whose intensity and direction can be indicated by vertical distribution of Q*. Ageostrophic wet Q-vector provided more valuable information for short range weather forecasting, the rainstorm especially.
