DISTRIBUTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ACID RAIN AND ITS AFFECTING FACTORS IN GUANGDONG PROVINCE

With the observed data in four acid stations affiliated to the meteorological department of Guangdong during 1992~2004,temporal and spatial distribution of pH in rain,acid rain frequency and affecting factors were studied.The results showed that yearly average rain frequencies were all more than 56%,pH in rain less than 4.9 in Guangzhou,Shaoguan and Dianbai.Although acid rain was relatively light in Shantou,its yearly average pH in rain was still less than 5.6,acid rain frequency also amounted to 31.7%.In recent years,pH values in rain have changed little while acid rain frequencies have increased in Guangzhou,Shaoguan and Shantou.The formation of acid rain was not only related to SO2 concentration in the atmosphere and lower buffering capacity of aerosol,but also to synoptic systems and weather conditions.
