In order to estimate rainfall by using the CAPPI of 3-km radars,a new regression coefficient estimation and a new method for errors correction are used. Firstly,using the new regression estimation is used to obtain a more reasonable relation of Z-I. Then the estimated precipitation is corrected with the new method of errors correction. The two new methods are verified by using rainfall data from automatic weather stations in Guangdong province and base data of radar available once every 6 minutes for the period from June 17 to 25,2005. The results indicate that estimating the rainfall with the new regression coefficient estimation and the new correction method of errors is better than the normal methods.
