FRONTIER ISSUES IN CURRENT MJO STUDIES

This review synthesizes the frontier issues in current MJO studies,including its mechanism of convective initiation,interaction with ENSO,impacts on other weather and climate systems,and numerical modeling and predictions.Special attentions were paid to the progresses in MJO studies achieved by Chinese scientists,especially the impacts on Asian Monsoon,rainfall in East China,and typhoon activities in the western Pacific,in order to provide some insights for the relevant studies and forecast in China.
