Molecular Cloning of a Noval Chitinase Gene from Rice CO39

The genomic DNA was isolated from the leaves of the seedling of rice cultivar CO39 at the four leaves phase. OsRCchi1 gene was cloned from the rice cultivar CO39.Sequencing results showed that the length of OsRCchi1 gene is 1 065 bp.The alignment results revealed that OsRCchi1 gene has the similarities of 85.9 %,76.2 % and 75.0 % to Oryza sativa(japonica cultivar-group) class Ⅲ chitinase RCB4(Rcb4) mRNA(AF350426),Oryza sativa chitinase mRNA(AF330230),and Oryza sativa subsp. japonica class Ⅲ chitinase(chib1) gene (AF296279),respectively. It was concluded that the OsRCchi1 gene belongs to class Ⅲ chitinase gene family.
